Jorge Cartagena, 10, stands in Sacred Heart Church in Camden at the completion of his baptism on Sunday, June 17. Blinded one year ago by the crossfire of drug dealers’ bullets, Jorge raises his cross and his baptism candle and to the proclamation “Christ is Risen,” and responds clearly and strongly: “Indeed he is Risen.” Pictured with him are Msgr. Michael Doyle, pastor, and the friends he chose as his godparents, Helene Pierson, executive director of The Heart of Camden, and Camden Chief of Police Scott Thomson.
